Ippi's Bait & Tackle opened March 31st, 2003; Laura "Ippi" Ippoliti has been the sole owner of the shop the entire time. Although there was a bait and tackle shop at the same location before Ippi's, there is no affiliation between the two; the other business closed at least 3 years before Ippi's opened. No other bait and tackle shop was located in Lynn when Ippi's opened; Ippi's fills this need.
IPPI'S, is the ONLY North Shore bait shop using a modified "State of the Art" lobster tank since it's first year open, with aeration & temperature control, keeping shiners, crayfish, & eels lively and healthy! The tank was built to Ippi's specifications; it was not purchased from a store.
Please note: our Poagies, Mackerel, Herring (Ocean, not river), & Clam Bags are Vacuum Packed, keeping them fresh! Ippi's orders bait each week. 3 sizes of fresh water worms are available: Night crawlers (largest), Dillies (small night crawlers- medium size worm), and Trout worms. Ippi's carries other bait and attractants as well.
Ippi's is open all year and sponsors fishing derbies throughout the year. Children's derbies, for ages 14 years and under, are free to participants; adults cannot catch the fish for the children, children MUST catch their own fish to be eligible to win. Adult derbies have an entrance fee. All derbies provide prizes to the winner(s).
Ippi's carries fishing tackle and bait for both fresh and salt water fishing. Ippi's is a Top-Shelf Dealer of Penn, Shimano, Okuma, Leatherman, Lamiglass Rods and Vertical Jigging Rigs. Order your "high-end" items through Ippi. T op-shelf items cannot be purchased at larger mass-marketing stores. Ippi's is also able to special order items for customers; a deposit is required.
